Now, there may be times when your car may need several repairs at once. We’ll give you the best price for those repairs, but sometimes it’s more than a customer can financially handle all at once. (particularly in this economy!) When this happens, we feel it’s necessary to help you make the choice of whether to repair all of your cars issues all at once, or break the repairs up over time. There are pros and cons to both approaches, and we’ll do our best to let you know what those are!
• Pros and Cons of Breaking Repairs Up Over Time: Honestly? There’s really only one pro: you don’t have to come up with all the money all at once, and so you can save up and budget over time. The cons include the fact that repairing only one thing at a time will exacerbate the other issues because they go on longer; things are more apt to pop up between each repair. In addition, you may end up paying more over the long run because labor may take longer each time, as you have to take everything apart and put it back together again each time.
• Pros and Cons of Repairing Everything at Once: The main disadvantage of fixing everything at once is the cost; and that may be the deal breaker for you. If you want to wait to save up for the total repair, though, we’ll tell you if you can hold off until you put the money together, or if you risk your car by waiting. Probably the main advantage of repairing everything at once is that there’s bound to be some overlap which will save on costs. An example of this is: if we need to replace both your timing belt and your thermostat, it saves money because we’re already in there working, and can get to both repairs easily. If you replace them separately, we have to take everything apart twice. There may also be a savings in materials. Taking the same timing belt as an example, if we replace your water pump and the thermostat at the same time, it saves on buying your coolant twice.
The main thing to remember is that – we’ll do everything possible to help you keep your car in top running condition, and we always make it a point to work with you – whatever your budget may be. Our job here at Ken Scales is to make sure our customers are happy, and we see that as our number one concern!
