Now, we’re not going to talk about how everyone in Oregon seems to lose their minds when we get a light dusting of snow on the ground, as if they were raised in the Caribbean or somewhere and never saw the stuff before. We’ll save that for another time. We’re going to talk about actually having enough snow on the ground to get stuck in. Or mud, for that matter. If you get stuck, you can make the whole problem worse by gunning your wheels to try and dig yourself out; you’re going to damage something for sure that way. You can try gently rocking the car, but if it isn’t working, don’t keep trying. Throwing your car back and forth from forward to reverse and spinning the tires makes for a lot of heat and that spells trouble for your transmission, clutches, and differentials. Try this: keep a bag of kitty litter in your trunk; it’s amazing stuff for getting yourself out of jams like this! And if that doesn’t work, make sure your Triple AAA membership is paid up; and we always advise going for the gold package that will tow you where you need to go!
